Dollar Wars Ends Tomorrow
We're almost to our goal!! We've raised an amazing $2,624 so far—thank you to everyone who has contributed!
Tomorrow, Friday, Jan 20, is your last chance to help us reach our goal of $3,000. The final count will happen at 1PM tomorrow!
If we reach our school-wide goal of $3,000, all the students will enjoy a day of music at lunch and recess! And more importantly, we will have the funds to purchase a new Crest Climber for the playground.
Our current top four teachers are: Schmitt, Sheehan, Courogen, and Kelley. Remember, the top four teachers or staff at the end of the Dollar War will have to wear a silly hat at school!
So much can still change in the final hours of this fundraiser—bring in your change to help your favorite teacher reach the top. Don't forget, pennies and bills add points while silver coins subtract points, so use those coins wisely!
Good luck, Bobcats!

OBOB Update
OBOB battles between teams registered in our school will begin next week on January 25th. All teams will battle twice, and the top 8 teams with the highest cumulative scores will advance to the elimination round. The battle schedule is posted on the library bulletin board and communicated to the parents via email.
We had a slideshow and mock battle for all teams to observe on January 19th.
I want to thank our dedicated library volunteers who have signed up to help run the battles. I am looking forward to energized battles full of fun and friendly competition.
I hope all the teams enjoyed reading the book selection, have fun during the battles and display good sportsmanship.
Good luck to all the teams!

Are you looking for a fun way to volunteer at school?
Art Lit is always in need of more volunteers. Can you hand out papers and use scissors? You do not need to be artistic to help. The lessons and art projects are already prepared. It is so much fun to watch the kids get excited about doing an art project and to see their creative abilities shine. If you are comfortable presenting the lesson to the class, there is a training each month we do an art lit lesson. If you are not comfortable with that, you can just show up the day of the lesson and help out. The kids love it when the art lit cart shows up in their classroom.
Contact Julie at julie.hardy@gmail.com or Danielle at dlsflagg@gmail.com if you are interested in helping.

Overdue Library Books
We need your help! We have a LOT of overdue and missing library books from last year (and this year too). Ms. Hussain will be sending out overdue notices with the list of titles that your child(ren) have checked out.
PLEASE look around your homes, cars, Grandma's house, or anywhere a book may be hiding! 🙂 The books that have been marked as "lost" have fines attached. If this is a hardship for your family, please reach out to Ms. Hussain or Mr. Parker and we can work with you.
We would much rather have the BOOKS than the money to replace them. Let's see how many we can return before Winter Break! Thank you!!
Reporting An Absence
Please remember to include the office in any communications regarding your child's absences. You may leave a message on the attendance line at 503-356-2035 or email Mrs. McLeod at annmarie_mcleod@beaverton.k12.or.us
The most important information to include in these communications is:
- Child's name
- ID number (their library number)
- Teacher
- Date of absence
- Reason for absence
