Leprechauns In Kindergarten
Kindergarten students really got into the spirit of things on Tuesday in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Upon arrival, they discovered that a leprechaun or two had gotten a bit carried away inside their classrooms; pulling out toys, looking through books, drawing on the easels, and luckily, leaving behind some gold coins. After enjoying a festive story and creating a leprechaun craft, the kindergartners were led on a scavenger hunt throughout the building by Gayman’s own leprechaun, Mr. O’Testani himself. By following the rhyming words on the clues, the students were able to discover a pot of lucky charms at the end of the rainbow!

Counselor's Corner
Ms. Vass, our school counselor, and Mrs. Moran, our school psychologist, have been visiting classrooms and delivering lessons designed to teach children about stress and stress-reduction techniques. Based on strong research that shows the positive effects of relaxation/meditation on school performance, attendance, behavior, attention and self-esteem, our school will be encouraging our staff and students to take time several times a week to practice stress-reducing techniques. While exercise is certainly a very effective stress-reducing method, it is not always practical in many school settings. Please ask your child about ways to avoid "popping their corks on Mondays" by using muscle relaxation, breathing and visualization techniques. Kindergarten and first grade parents, you can ask your child to demonstrate "how to sit still like a little frog". Click here for a relaxation worksheet to help your child with visualization strategies. Look for future links and recommendations on additional strategies. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher, Ms. Vass (svass@cbsd.org) or Mrs. Moran (bmoran@cbsd.org) for additional information.
March Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets and the Nomination form please click on the link below:
