A1 Turtles Update
Week 8 - Oct.6th
This Week...
We learned about community helpers this week. We met with our 3rd grade buddies today and brainstormed different types of community helpers. There were lots of great interviews shared during Talker's Club this week. We continue to work on doubles to 10 and doubles plus one.
You can support their efforts in math by practicing math facts at home. Please see the note below.
Thank you for helping students be ready to learn by being in line by the time the 8:15 bell rings. It is very important that students are STANDING in line with their bodies to themselves and are not running around.
RtI will be starting spelling this week. Each RtI class has a different color spelling sheet with different words. If you ever have questions about RtI, please ask me instead of the RtI teacher. They are doing an amazing job following our school ROARS (our school wide behavior plan).
We had an exciting day at Guadalupe! We got to watch the huge crane lift the pieces of our Maker Space into place.
We are in need of an electric pencil sharpener in class. If anyone has one to donate, we would really appreciate it!!!! We would need one that can sharpen thick primary pencils.
Math Facts
I wanted to send home a game for you to play to help practice your child's math fluency. The game is called Tens Go Fish. The object of the game is to make pairs that add to 10. All you need to play is a deck of cards. Use the cards 2-10 and the Ace. The Ace counts as a one. The rules are attached, but it is essentially Go Fish. This is a fun way to involve the whole family and also practice math facts!
I can not stress enough how important it is for your child to know their math facts fluently. Hopefully, this game will be a exciting new way to engage your child at home.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

We Need You!!!
We are still in need of another Room Parent, someone to help with Project Cornerstone, and a Photographer. The photographer would take pictures (or get pictures from other parents) throughout the school year at parties and events. In the spring, this person would send photos to the Yearbook coordinator. Please consider helping out!!!
