Updates from Manassas Park Middle School - 2/1/2019
Week 22 - Snow day and late starts this week, LOTS happening next week!
This week saw Semester 2 get started, with all students switching to a new Science or Social Studies class, as well as starting new elective classes. We also saw another dose of Winter Weather - hopefully giving time for all of our students to enjoy some reading for pleasure at home.
Tonight and tomorrow is our school musical featuring many MPMS students - Peter Pan Jr! The Cast and crew have worked very hard for months to create this production and I cannot wait to see the final product! Come join us tonight at 7 or Saturday at 2.
Next week has a LOT going on - SGA is running our Winter Spirit Week, with daily themes and a spirit parade on Thursday for all of our winter athletes and performers! (More details below!)
In addition, next week is School Counselors Week, so please take a moment to let our two amazing school counselors know how much we appreciate their hard work every single day!
Lastly, next week we will have 15 Chinese exchange students coming to MPMS to shadow American students and "live the life" of an American student. These Chinese students are in 8th grade and will be with us for each school day.
Lastly, we have our first boys winter sports action - with wrestling hosting Bull Run Middle on Thursday in the Wrestling Center and our basketball teams heading out to Bull Run for their games. Good luck to all!

Come check out the MPMS Book Fair! Feb 4-15!
During our Book Fair, February 4-15 during school hours, the Library Learning Commons is transformed into a book store! We'll receive a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level, and all purchases benefit our school!
Our purpose for the Book Fair is to give students a chance to choose books for the library, since students’ long-term reading habits increase when they are allowed to make their own choices about the books they read. The library receives books from the fair as our profit, and we are usually able to get all of the books that the students choose.
You can use the new online eCash feature to give your child money to spend at the Book Fair. You establish a limit, and your credit card is not charged until after your child makes their purchase. See the Book Fair Home Page for more information.
More information is available on the Book Fair Home Page http://www.scholastic.com/bf/mpms
The schedule for class visits can be found on the calendar on the library's Canvas course https://mpcs.instructure.com/courses/2426
