Principal's Desk
July-August Newsletter
A Quick Note
Can you believe July is almost over?
With the start of the school year quickly approaching, I am honored and humbled to serve LRA as the new Elementary Principal this year. I understand this year has been met with unprecedented challenges. While it hasn't been easy, I continue to be amazed by our teacher's commitment and resolve with offering a Christ-centered education. I notice this most in the way our teachers care, love and interact with their students. High-fives in the hallways after completing a difficult task, encouraging words to let students know they are supported, treasure boxes waiting to be picked from, teachers giving up their planning periods to offer one-on-one help, bandaids for recess scrapes and conflict resolutions offered when friends are at odds. These are just a few of the examples LRA Teachers have been Christ-like to their students, and this coming year, even with all the challenges, will be no different.
In Christ,
Melanie Raposo
Classroom Changes and New Teachers
Mrs. Fitzgerald, our 1st-grade teacher, has decided to support her husband in his full-time ministry. However, she has agreed to offer LRA her services as a Reading Inventory Specialist, We are excited to see God use Mrs. Fitzgerald in her new ministry role and we are happy she loves us enough to stick around!
Kristy Marcellus has moved out of 5th grade and will be our new Elementary online teacher. Kristy enjoyed teaching online last semester and has a strong desire to continue. She will partner with the classroom teachers and offer online teaching and support to students who are enrolled in our LRA Connect option. We are so thankful for Kristy's passion for online teaching!
Julie Johnson is moving from 4th grade to 5th grade! She will continue to serve as our Elementary coordinator as well. Julie is excited to teach 5th grade, and her previous Middle School teaching experience allows Julie the unique opportunity to prepare her students for Middle School life!
Welcome our NEW TEACHERS!
Susan Halsell is our new 1st-grade teacher! Susan has taught Kindergarten, first grade, second grade and homeschool co-op. She is excited to be a part of the LRA Family!
Madison Draheim is the newest member to the Elementary team! However, she is not new to the LRA family; Maddie has been a substitute teacher for three years at LRA and she is the oldest of four siblings, all who attend LRA!
Coach Maddie Sanford, our Bobcat Belle coach, will join the Elementary team this year as the Elementary P.E. teacher! Maddie has a love for sports and is a die-hard San Antonio Spurs and Denver Broncos fan (we won't hold that last one against her).
Please be in prayer for all the above changes! We are excited to see how God will grow us this new school year!
