Principal's Message
The first full week of December is also the last week of our 1/3/5 classes. Next Monday students will be transitioning to their 2/4/6 classes for the remainder of the first semester.
I want to remind you of the structures in place that support every student in this remote learning environment as students complete their work for their 1/3/5 classes and get ready to return to their work for their 2/4/6 classes.
T3 and teacher office hours are available Monday through Thursday for students who have questions, need assistance with an assignment, or help to stay organized to finish strong. Office hours are at the end of the school day and open to all students. T3 has a little more structure and teachers may have a session closed from time to time (to work with specific students) or the day's session might be focused on a particular class. The T3 schedule for the week (T3 Week At A Glance) is found in this newsletter and also on our website.
Students and parents/guardians also have access to Skyward. In addition to logging in to Google Classroom, students should also be checking their Skyward account frequently to confirm their progress in class, current grade and any missing assignments. If students don't know their Skyward account login, they should contact Robin Brinkman in our main office by email at rbrinkman@meridian.wednet.edu or by phone at 360-398-8111. Parents/guardians can receive daily or weekly summaries of their student's classes such as assignment deadlines, missing work and announcements by signing up for Google Guardian. https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/6386354?hl=en
In addition, our teachers are available through Google Classroom, email, via phone. If you have a question please use one of these options to contact them. If you have general questions or concerns you can also contact your student's counselor.
While staff continue to work hard to connect with students and provide learning opportunities and support for students, we need your help. The strength of the Meridian community is the people in it. I am asking each of you to please check-in with MHS other students (and their families) to see how they are doing with school and encourage them. Whatever you can do to help them either connect with their work, ask more questions, use the resources available, or reach out and ask for help would be greatly appreciated. If you are concerned about a Meridian student or family or you need support and not sure who to contact, please reach out to our counselors.

Don McMains (students with last name K-Z) 360-319-4390 dmcmains@meridian.wednet.edu
I am proud to be part of an amazing community that supports one another and a staff that continues to work hard, reflect and make adjustments to make the most out of our current remote learning environment. If you have further questions or concerns, please continue to reach out to me by phone at 360-398-8111 or by email at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Go Trojans.
Derek O. Forbes
T3 is designed for students to receive the support they may need in a particular class. This could be making up an assessment or working with someone in a small group to help ensure that concepts are being understood. Teachers can assign students to attend a T3 in which case attendance is mandatory.

Winter Wishes
Winter Wishes gives everyone who is a part of the Meridian High School family a chance to make a wish for someone else. Every year for the last 10 years, the leadership class has raised money to grant the wishes that students and staff make for other students in our school. It is a unique and special opportunity for all of us to think of others when we wish. Because of the thoughtful wishing of students in our school combined with the efforts of our leadership students, Winter Wishes has provided gifts for hundreds of our students every year.

SENIORS:
December 10, 2020 from 3-4 pm there will be a HSBP Support Zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82302321345 for those that are still working on your HSBP.
When you believe your HSBP is completed contact your counselor to take a look at it before you print and turn it in to the main office. Also, be sure to print your resume as well as your plan.
REMINDER ABOUT ATTENDANCE
Being present in class is vital to be successful in school. We want to encourage all of our students to be at school every day! If you are missing school, you are missing out on learning!
Food Service Update
The plan for food service will continue as usual on Monday and Thursday even with the 3-5 grades coming back to IRE.
The pick up time at the MS will be changing to 11:00am-12:30pm. We are also planning on moving inside the front doors of the MS. This will help keep the employees warm and out of the elements, the glass will allow us to see people arrive and with the tent that maintenance has been putting up for us, allow the employees to stay dry. And since it's Friday, students shouldn't be an issue.
If anyone has any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
