Science
Monday, students will be working on coding activities in the computer lab during science. Tuesday and Wednesday, students will be rotating through labs, exploring sound and light waves, convection currents, and finishing research on the heat powered flashlight, and the soccket ball (links below).
Students will be working on annotating articles on both of the previously mentioned inventions, and write their own article to teach others about either the flashlight or the Soccket Ball. In the article, they will be expected discuss the inspiration behind the invention, how it works, and any improvements or expansions they would make to the invention and why. This assignment will not be due until February 12, but they may turn it in at any time. I will give them plenty of time and guidance to finish it in class.
Thursday, student will be taking the quiz, and Friday will be reserved for the Spelling Bee and Unit 5 Math Test.

Mozilla Thimble - "Parents need to know that Mozilla Thimble is an online application that lets kids remix webpage projects and complete their own. Thimble is part of Mozilla's Webmaker.org, which is a site dedicated to making it easy and fun for kids to learn how the Web works and how kids can "write" or make their own digital content online."
Code Academy - "Parents need to know that CODECADEMY teaches users how to code in several programming languages by providing interactive exercises organized into lessons. There's no content that would be iffy for younger kids, but the reading level and skills taught are challenging."
