August Newsletter

Principal Message

I hope this newsletter finds you and your family healthy and happy. We are so excited to have students back in the building and can't wait to see families! It will be so nice to add bit of normalcy to school days this year!

Enrollment

If you have not done so already, please enroll your student as soon as possible. Some of our classes are rapidly filling up and only have a few spots left. To enroll, visit topekapublicschools.net and click on the quick link "2021-22 Registration".

The First Day of School is Wednesday, August 11!

Meet the Teacher

Our annual "Meet the Teacher" night will be IN PERSON this year! Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 10 from 4:30-5:30. This is an awesome opportunity to meet your new teacher, see classmates, and drop off school supplies. This will be a drop and go event. Due to social distancing guidelines, we will need to keep families moving throughout our building. We look forward to seeing all who can attend! ALL VISITORS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK TO ENTER THE BUILDING.

Welcome!

Meadows is so excited to welcome two new staff members into our building!

Ms. Emily Smyth is joining us as a school counselor. While we are sad to see Allison Foley leave us, we are so excited to have Ms. Smyth join our school family. She is fully of energy with a bubbly personality that can't help but be contagious. We are so lucky to have her here!

Ms. Susan Hudgens will be part of our Second Grade team.

Ms. Becky Hagler is our new Family Service and Guidance Center liaison. She will be with us every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We share her with Robinson Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Masks

Masks will be required for all students and staff again this year. It is imperative that your student come to school with a clean mask each day. Please help us keep our schools open and all students safe.

Drop Off/Pick Up

Students will need to be dropped off outside of their POD door in the morning. Drop off begins at 8:20. Pick up will occur at the same location beginning at 3:40. Please view this document with instructions. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR in order to ensure our lines keep moving. Your patience as we begin the school year is appreciated. While this process begins slowly, as families learn how to navigate our system, our lines begin to move much faster.

Breakfast

Students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast each school day. Students who wish to eat breakfast will eat in the PODs before entering the classroom. Breakfast begins at 8:20 and is free to all students. Thank you to our tremendous Food Service staff for helping make this possible.

Student Illness

Click here to view the district notice regarding the Covid-19 virus. Students with symptoms will be isolated immediately and parents notified. All parents need to have a plan in place should your child need to be picked up due to suspected illness. School personnel will not transport students that are ill, nor will students be allowed to remain at school indefinitely. Please have a plan in place with a variety of friends or family members that can be available to pick up your ill student. This is extremely important and will help our learning environment remain healthy.

Late Start FRIDAY!

Late start is moving back to Friday!! BEGINNING AUGUST 20, school will begin at 9:30. Breakfast will begin at 9:15 for any student who wishes to eat. Dismissal remains at 3:40. Please visit our school website to see our Google Calendar which has all dates listed for you.
