Meal Options Changing with Return to Classrooms

Special Message from Bibb County School Nutrition Program

Please see the letter below from Bibb County School Nutrition Executive Director Timikel Sharpe outlining the changes to meal service.

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,


We are very excited to know that we will have the opportunity to serve you in more ways. Rest assured that School Nutrition is committed to ensuring that all students have an opportunity to participate in meal service, staying true to our mission statement “Serving Today’s Students Nutritious Meals to Grow Tomorrow’s Leaders.”


Under the Seamless Summer Option:

  • Meals may be served free to all children ages 0 to 18 (not only Bibb County students) and to up to age 21 with state-specified mental and/or physical conditions.
  • Parents or guardians picking up meals for students may be asked specific questions regarding students.


The method of service will vary depending upon whether the child is attending school in-person or virtually. Please review the information below carefully.


Face-to-Face Learners (F2F Students)

Students attending school face-to-face, or in person, will be served breakfast and lunch at school Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. What will happen on Wednesday, you might be asking?

  • Students will have the opportunity to pick up a box and/or bagged meal as they exit the building. This will be breakfast and lunch for Wednesday.


Remote Learners (RLO Students)

Students remaining in remote classes will continue to place their orders online for CURBSIDE PICKUP on Mondays beginning Monday, January 11. Meals picked up on Mondays are packed for multiple days. Orders must be placed by 9 a.m. the Sunday before you plan to pick up.


Beginning the week of Jan. 18, there will be two options for meal pick up:


  • One of 25 curbside locations for daytime pickup between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • One of five High Schools (Central, Northeast, Rutland, Southwest or Westside) for evening pickup between 4:30 and 6 p.m.


Whether you participate face-to-face or curbside, our meal standards and guidelines are set by the United States Department of Agriculture based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans as well as the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine.


Online Ordering

Cafeteria Managers need to be able to focus their staff in preparing the correct meals and the correct number. In accordance with USDA Regulations, students are only entitled to 1 breakfast and 1 lunch per day. Parents and/or Students may only pick-up meals either Monday mornings or evenings. Please review the online ordering processes outlined below to ensure your orders are placed correctly and a meal is prepared for you.


1. F2F Students in Elementary Schools – Teachers will submit the orders to School Nutrition each morning based upon the student’s preference.


2. F2F Students in Middle and High Schools – Students will receive a link through REMIND each afternoon with the menu and a simple form to place their order if they intend to dine at school the next day. For most students, these Remind messages will be delivered to their school district email. A link to the order forms will also be placed on ClassLink for students. Orders must be placed no later than 8 a.m. the day of service.


3. RLO Students – Students in remote classes will continue ordering their meals the same way they do now. Here are the links to the daytime order form and the evening order form. Remember, orders must be placed by 9 a.m. the day before you plan to pick up.


4. Students in the CommunityStudents not in Bibb County schools are eligible to participate in the Curbside Pickup service at one of the 25 school locations under the Seamless Summer Option. We ask that you continue ordering meals using the form links above.


NOTE: We will do our very best to ensure all students receive meals. Managers and teams will prepare some extra meals, but we ask that you place an order to ensure no one goes unserved.


Need Special Dietary Meals

Please complete the standard SY 21 Diet Form to request special dietary needs. A new up-to-date form is needed at the beginning of each school year. Our Dietitian will review the Physician’s Orders and contact you. This is necessary for meals served under the virtual model as well. Please return the form as soon as possible to ensure we are ready to accommodate your special needs. Here is the link to the current form. The form must be completed in its entirety and signed by the certified official. We will not be able to accommodate without clear guidance from the certified official. Return all forms to Dalia.Kinsey@bcsdk12.net. Your child’s school can assist you with printing and completing this form, if assistance is needed.
