CHS Family Update
October 28, 2019
In The Know
Donations Needed - Our school Nurse and our Interact Club are both looking for donations to support students here at Churchill. Your gracious support is much appreciated. We had such an amazing response to this last year that we are coming back to ask again. Everything that was donated to us last year was handed out to students in need. Every last item. ***Donations needed***
Toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, deodorant (boys and girls), socks (boys and girls)
Please bring donations to the front office and we will make sure they get to our school nurse and delivered to students in need.
Interact Club Fundraiser for Mike Closet - bins in front office 11/4-8 and 11/11-18. Collecting clothing, school supplies, toiletries for Mike’s Closet. Also collecting bottles and cans from families to help purchase items. Want to reach out to parents for donations.
Parking - Community members/parents are continuing after school to park in the yellowed areas surrounding 18th/J lot making it very dangerous for students to pull in or out of the parking lot. Please be aware of this dangerous predicament when cars are parked illegally. We will monitor this area with campus supervision and administration. We are asking that if you have parked here in the past, to please discontinue this practice as it creates a safety issue for our students.
Counseling Clarification - When a 10th-12th student or parent needs to see a school counselor, we are asking that you contact the counselor to whom the student is assigned. We have had several students seeing their counselor from last year, which has created a significant imbalance in the caseloads. In changing to the alphabet system this year, students will be able to stay with the same counselor for grades 10, 11, and 12.
10th - 12th Student Last Names:
A - G: Nita Halstead
H - Q: Katy McAuliffe
R - Z: Court Wirth

Kudos
Leah Dunbar - was voted Best Teacher in Eugene in the Best of Eugene produced by Eugene Weekly. Congratulations Leah on the recognition. It is exciting for you, Churchill, but most importantly by the students whose hearts you have touched.
Thank you to Jennifer Scurlock, Kevin Summerfield, and Paola Massingham for your leadership with students attending the Townhall Symposium. Your leaderdship allows students to engage in powerful conversations through inquiry based education. This is strong and important work to get students to discuss difficult and courageous conversation with the ability to listen and understand differing perspectives. Job well done.
