Updated Spirit Week!

We moved Spirit Week back to October 3-7 so that we didn't interfere with Kindergarten's color week!

Girl Powered STEAM Event!

FMES is Girl Powered!

We are so excited to be bringing Girl Powered back to FMES this year! Please see the information included at this link to learn about our October workshop (scheduled to coincide with International Day of the Girl) and how to register your child for this fun afternoon full of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! The workshop is October 12th until 4:00 here at FMES. Girls will need transportation home from this event. Cost is $25 to cover snacks and materials. Please register by October 7th!

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Walker at

Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15-October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. If anyone wants to incorporate this into a lesson throughout September or October, there are a couple videos below for you to use!

Read Alouds:

Reading Buddies

Reading buddies is a great option for students at FMES to practice and model great reading behaviors with other students from different grade levels. We typically connect a K-2 class with a 3-5 class. If you haven't had a chance to find a reading buddy class and are interested in connecting with another class to have reading buddies for your students, please let Mrs. Love know and she will happy to connect you with another classroom!

Safety and Security Newsletter

The September Safety and Security Newsletter pertains to Concerning Behaviors. It is attached to this newsletter!

Benefits Open Enrollment

I strongly encourage everyone to take the time to set up a Benefits meeting to look at the Open Enrollment options that are currently available. Meetings are taking place next week. Our district uses Ward Services for these meetings and all of the benefits counselors are paid through a salary - they do not make any money on commission or selling you any insurance. This is a great (and only) time to review everything that you have in place and potentially add others if you choose to do so. If you have any question, please ask!

Are you serving in a leadership role?

The school district is looking to identify and highlight any staff members in the district who are serving in leadership roles in local, state, regional, or national education-related organizations so that they can highlight the great work that is being done around the district.

If you are in any of these roles, please let me know so that I can pass that information along to our district contact!

STEAM Updates

Check out the Powtoon in the link below for some FMSD STEAM Updates!

Fall Parent Conferences

We have a teacher workday on October 17th. This workday is put into the calendar for the purpose of completing parent conferences. Our deadline to complete all fall parent conferences is by the end of October. You may use the workday to schedule parent conferences or you may spread them out throughout September and October so that you have the workday available to work in your rooms.

The format of your parent conferences is up to you and the parent. If the parent is comfortable doing it virtually then that is fine, but if they would like to come in person please accommodate that request. Please try to meet with each family in your classroom either in person or virtually by the deadline. If you are having an issue getting a parent to come into the building or join a virtual meeting, then you may consider a phone conference. We are happy to help you reach out to parents if you are having issues getting in contact with anyone.

Let Me Run Coach Needed!
