Spring Tutoring Schedule
The SMART Space now offers 3-week coaching groups!
In these small, focused groups we’ll learn skills and habits, form connections with amazing peers, and unshackle ourselves from the idea that growing our academic skills is for anyone else.
Because, actually? It’s for us.
A well-lived life includes being able to plan and execute on the things that matter most - as defined by us. So whether you deploy these new skills on a research paper for COR, designing your next game, or recording your next album, you can enjoy life more once you know how to work with your executive function strengths, are able to get things done without procrastinating, and when you can meet the natural ebbs and flows of anxiety with confidence.
EF 101: Party With Your Prefrontal Cortex
Lunch included!
Learn about executive function (how the brain organizes time and tasks, and regulates emotion), discover your own personal EF profile, and learn how to play to your own EF strengths. Let go of shame and self-criticism, and embrace your own quirky EF needs so you can thrive academically - by your own definition, in your own way.
Feb.2, 9, & 16.: 45 minutes in group, 45 minutes practical application plus lunch! Wednesdays, 11-1pm.
Pre-registration required by emailing msheldon@champlain.edu - maximum of 5 students.)
Faculty Outreach -- Not just a workshop, but a collaboration to improve student success!
This semester, we are working with EHS to offer support to students on Academic Recovery and with Game Faculty to integrate meaningful workshop experiences in group dynamics, project management, study sessions, and Git. Long-term research and writing project development will also be piloted in Core classes. Tech Journaling in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics will be another great opportunity to pilot note-taking strategies.
Lots of possibilities! Contact Lauren (lbruneau@champlain.edu) to schedule a time to brainstorm and try a new way to integrate academic support into your current program.
