Principal's letter for parents and caregivers

14th week of school; No School Nov 17 for staff development; yes school Nov 18 and Nov 19

Good evening Gladiators,

We have one more shorter week this week with a staff development day on Nov 17 (no students in attendance). We have 5 weeks left remaining in semester 1. We are proud of our Gladiator Alliance Band and their accomplishments during their field tournament season. We are especially appreciative of the parent support for the band as well. On Nov 11, Althea Ito delivered a moving tribute to our veteran's at Azusa City Hall. Below is the video so you can hear her inspiring words.

I am hosting a coffee with the principal on Nov 19 at 9:15 in the library and online to share school updates and take questions.

Covid-19 safety last week

Gladstone continues to Covid test athletes, employees, and students on demand. We are also routine testing for all unvaccinated employees at GHS. 65 Covid tests were administered with 0 positive cases. It has now been four weeks with no plexiglass and no on campus transmission has been detected.

We continue to urge that all eligible students and employees get vaccinated against Covid-19 as the best way to stop the spread of the virus in our community.

School Reorganization Update

Those who have been following the board conversation regarding the future of AUSD have heard that the district is moving towards a one high school / one middle school model. As of right now the one high school will be at Azusa HS and the one middle school will be located at GHS.

The decision is not final, and the details of the transition to one high school have not been worked out yet. The board is scheduled to have a meeting on Dec 7 to discuss the plans more in detail with a final vote to occur on Dec 21.

One thing we absolutely know is that we have Gladiators right now who need to focus on the present and passing classes and enjoying their first in person year since 2019-2020. We are doing our very best to keep our campus atmosphere positive and focused on students. We appreciate everyone's support in this process, thank you.

Please be aware of the Dec 7 and Dec 21 board meeting dates as that is the best place to hear the information from the district regarding where we are in the process.

Upcoming Days Off

No School on Nov 17--teacher meeting day

There is no school, and no school offices are open Nov 22-Nov 26 for Thanksgiving Break

Planning a winter vacation?

GHS has final exams scheduled for Dec 21, Dec 22, and Dec 23. Please remember that final exams have an impact on semester grades. Please reach out to teachers if a planned trip has a conflict with the final exams schedules.

Thank you and be well
