St. Thomas Aquinas Feast Day
What Is a Catholic Feast Day?
The Catholic Church assigns one date out of the year for each and every canonized saint — known as the saint’s feast day. The saints are remembered on their individual feast days with special mention, prayers, and possibly a scripture reading.
On some feast days, Catholics process through the streets and host festivals.
WHO WAS ST. THOMAS AQUINAS:
Feast Day is January 28th
patron of all universities and of students
when he became of age to choose his state of life, St. Thomas gave up the things of this world and resolved to enter the Order of St. Dominic in spite of the opposition of his family.
at the age of seventeen, he joined the Dominicans of Naples.
some members of his family resorted to all manner of means over a two year period to change his mind. They even went so far as to send beautiful woman to tempt him.
but all their efforts were in vain and St. Thomas persevered in his vocation
he was nicknamed the "dumb ox" because of his silent ways and huge size, but he was really a brilliant student.
