Why were the Maya buildings so important to the Maya people?

The buildings were important to the Maya people because it was for their gods and it was important to the gods . I know this because it says “The buildings were covered with carvings and statues to honor their gods as well as to commemorate their kings.”

The Mayas buildings were important to them because a god lived there or the building was made for a god living/dead. I know this because in the article called Maya Civilization Sites and Cities it said “Each city was home to the local king who lived in a palace within the city. It was also home to large pyramids that served as temples to their gods”
