Dear Parents and Carers,

What a challenge we have had this week!

We came back from half term to find that we had no online capacity due to a fault further afield beyond our control. This has meant a complete change in the way we work and teach as so many of our systems and processes are held online in various clouds and applications. I have been teaching long enough to remember the time before we used Google and smartboards, but for our children and many of our staff this week has been very different as we have adapted. It has been great to see how resilient everyone has been. Fingers crossed that normal service is resumed next week! In the meantime, thank you for your understanding and please continue to contact us by telephone. We will let you know once we are back online.

I was pleased to welcome a group of church school headteachers into school this week especially as they were very positive about how far the school has come in developing as a church school. “The impact of the school vision could be seen in the ways that the children demonstrated that they feel valued within their lessons, and the level of respect for everyone that was displayed.”

Finally, what a wonderful day we had on World Book Day on Thursday. It was clear to see what a fantastic effort had gone into the children’s costumes and the ‘Book in a box’ entries. Thank you for your help in this. The children in all classes took part in lots of book related activities during the day and had a great day.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Karen Williams

Pupil Premium & Free School Meals Funding

As you will be aware, Universal Free School Meals are automatically available to all children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2. However, if you meet certain criteria, your child may be eligible for Free School Meals for the whole of their primary education as well as additional funding to support them with their education, called a 'Pupil Premium'. This additional funding benefits our school to support us to increase your child's attainment.

To qualify for Free School Meals and Pupil Premium funding, you must fulfil one of the following criteria:

  • Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods (£616.67 per month);
  • Income Support;
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance;
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance;
  • Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit;
  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are also not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household gross income that does not exceed £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC); or
  • Working Tax Credit run-on, paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.

If your family circumstances change, you may become eligible. Please see the North Yorkshire website below for more information and to access the relevant application forms. Once your application has been processed, school will be notified automatically . If you require any support with understanding Free School Meals and Pupil Premium funding or help with your application, please call one of our admin team who will be happy to advise.
