SMS Jag E-News

January 17, 2021

Hey Jags,

Now that everyone has settled into their routines for Term 3 and the second semester, keeping up with assignments and engaging with instruction is critical now more than ever. Please be sure to review the updated tutorial information that is included below. As always, our top priority is to serve our students and community in the best way possible. You can help us maintain a safe learning environment for all students and staff by reinforcing health and safety protocols at home. We can all work together to promote frequent handwashing, use of hand sanitizer, maintaining social distance, and most importantly, wearing a mask. We are better together! Thank you for your time and support of our school. We are Sartartia Strong!

With Jag Pride,

Cholly Oglesby

Reminders for Jag Families

SMS Morning Tutorials

Tutorials are offered throughout the week by each teacher and team. These tutorials are available to all students and offered virtually from 8:20-8:45am through Teams. Teachers have posted their tutorial times and links in Schoology, but you can also access the complete schedule and all links in the attached document.

Bring a Water Bottle

Students should bring their own water bottle to refill throughout the day as needed. We have two bottle filler stations located on our campus, but all other water fountains have been rendered unavailable . Students should bring their own water and should not share with others.

Daily Wellness Screening

Parents/students must complete a Daily Wellness Screening through Skyward. If your child is cleared, they may attend school that day. If your child is not cleared, they may not report to school and a member from the district COVID-19 contact tracing team will contact families directly. In addition to the screener, students will receive, and must pass, a temperature check before reporting to their classroom. To make student entry as safe and efficient as possible, please make sure the screener is completed prior 8:00 AM each day. Another way students can be allowed in is by showing a screen shot of their “cleared” screen. This screen shot must show the date for that day to be accepted.

Support Saving Student Work

As Fort Bend ISD students have increased their use of digital platforms, it has become increasingly important that students save and back up their work as a best practice. This best practice is critical to avoid data loss in instances of student schedule changes. The District recommends two methods for students to save and back-up their work: Schoology Portfolios and Microsoft OneDrive. This document below will provide information on how to use the Schoology Portfolio and Microsoft OneDrive to save student work.

Jaguar Athletics

The FBISD Athletics Department and District campus athletics coordinators continue working to provide a safe environment for our student athletes this school year. In preparation for successful basketball, track, tennis and soccer seasons, parents are asked to ensure that their students’ Pre-Participation Physical Exam form and Rank One electronic forms are submitted to their campus head coach by the dates listed below in order to be eligible to participate in the first day of tryouts. Visit the FBISD Athletics webpage to learn more about the District’s health and safety protocols. Be sure to check out the Boys' & Girls' Athletics Newsletters for the most current information about games, tickets, tryouts, and character education videos.
