ELEMENTARY CKLA Updates
Many of you have begun to receive your CKLA resources. The following information is in regard to the processing and supplemental resources you need to be aware of.
- 1) (CKLA) Core Knowledge Language Arts materials are Open Education Resources they are largely consumable, GCS will not be barcoding these resources.
- 2) Involved in this curriculum, there is a list of recommended trade books (See PDF previous email). These are recommended by CKLA, but NOT provided by GCS. You may already have these in your library or choose to petition your leadership team for funds to purchase titles off this list to support the curricular needs of your teachers.
- 3) If you are able to secure funding for any of these titles (through Title 1 or other funding source), they will then need to be processed just as any other titles in your library and added into your circulating collection. Teachers would need only a few in each category to choose from. (Don’t forget the eBook option. If you purchase them at your site, only your teachers and students will have access to them.)
- 4) The Library Media Services department will attempt to purchase a few titles in each category for the eBook shelf, but suggest checking your collection to see what you already have. Some are very popular and should already be in your collections.
- 5) The K and 1st grade pacing guides so you can align your lessons with each grade level’s instruction are attached to the email sent on this topic last week.
