Eagle Academy Weekly Update
Week of September 8, 2021
Back to School…for Students & Parents
This past Wednesday the busses rolled in. The students got out. Eagle Academy opened up its doors for a new school year. In its 23 years Eagle has served the needs of over one thousand students and their families. For more than a year & a half most students had been learning from home. It has been wonderful to be able to teach students without “screens.” We are cautiously optimistic that things will continue to improve.
As for the Parents…we have Back to School Night! Unfortunately, this year it will be virtual. But parents & guardians will still be able to meet their child’s teacher and see the classrooms. Next week a Google Meet code will be sent out via email & the Remind app. We will follow it up a couple of days later with a phone call to make sure each family has received it. We will also be able to answer any questions you may have. We hope to see you online, and maybe someday soon…in person!

Student Achievment
Fun in Science Class!
Mr. Langhurst's science students were given a fun challenge in class today: rescue "Sam the gummie worm" from his capsized "boat" using only paperclips.
Afterward, the students that finished competed to see who could build the tallest free-standing popsicle stick tower using only tape (Ian Rush and Richard Watson were the winners)
Building a new gym
Breathing for Health and Happiness
Students in Mr. Smith's Social Studies classes start each class period with five minutes of mindful breathing to prepare their minds and bodies for class, and anything else life throws at them.
How do they do it? Simply breathe slowly into your nose for about 5.5 seconds (count six heartbeats), then breathe out slowly for the same amount of time. Students are also encouraged to train themselves to breathe only through their noses as much as possible throughout the day and while sleeping.
The breathing is done outside whenever weather permits, also providing a welcome mask break for students and teachers. Try it at home and see how you feel!
Important opportunity for students!

Begin Anew!
Welcome Students! I am ECSTATIC to be working with you all this year--and, am especially excited to be in your presence instead of on your computer screen or text message inbox! If you're like me, you may be experiencing some nervous or anxious feelings about yet, another, transition (returning back to school).
We sure have had a lot of change over the last few years, haven't we? From shut down, virtual learning, hybrid schedules, face masks, social distancing, world-wide controversies, community and household hardships, not to mention the gamut of emotions from top to bottom, left and right. BUT, I, along with all of your teachers and staff members, here are Eagle Academy are determined to help you feel confident and comfortable about the return to school.
Let's start with some POSITIVE thinking. For one week only, practice these Morning Affirmations. If you can change your mindset, you can change your life! We all believe in YOU, now it's time for you to believe in YOU.
Please take a moment to review my website. I have resources, services, and even some self-care activities for you to enjoy over and over, again! You can even book an appointment with me, confidentially! If you find yourself looking for something in particular and it isn't on my site, let me know and I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to get you what you need 🙂
The Student Crisis Card can be used for all, but it was made just for YOU. Every one of the supportive resources listed were created for teens to utilize and share with their peers. Just remember--when you need help, find your helpers.
Best wishes, Warmest Regards,
