Hello parents of Lindsey 5th grade students!!
It's hard to believe, but the end of the year is fast approaching! Before we know it.....middle school!!! {eek!}
Before we venture out into that world, we would like to end the year with a bang! We need your help!!
Every year the PTO puts together a slideshow of pictures for every 5th grade student. EVERY SINGLE ONE!! The Slideshow has pictures of every student from kindergarten through fifth. That's 6 pictures of each kiddo. In one Slideshow. And every student will get access to it!!
We play this slideshow video in its entirety at the 5th grade awards ceremony usually. But Covid so other plans will be made. The kids LOVE watching themselves and all their friends "grow up" before their eyes. There is a lot of laughing and smiles to be had by all.
How you can help?? We need you to send in 6 pictures of your student! One from each year of school. They do not have to be school pictures! But one picture from each grade is what we are looking for. And we need you to get them to us as soon as humanly possible! This is my top priority for these kiddos, they love having this and I don't want anyone left out!!
Please send all digital pictures to-
Please put your students name and the grade of the photo in the subject line.
If for some reason you can't/would rather not send digital pictures, please send hard copies in an envelope with your student's name, and my name "Mindy Taiclet". I will scan them in, and then return the hard copies to you!
Thank you so much for quickly contributing to a really, REALLY fun memory!!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask away :)
Andrea MilnarField Day
We are excited about our upcoming Field Days for our students and we wanted to share some key information pertaining to the event with you. Please pay attention to the dates, time frames, and requests for volunteers.

Virtual Classrooms:
Mr. Perusek and the virtual teachers are collaborating. More details to come from your child's homeroom teacher!
- Students should be prepared that day with several masks, water bottles, comfortable clothing, and tennis shoes.
- PTO will be providing a pizza lunch for students. The cafeteria will not be serving hot lunch on this date.
- If weather impacts either date, we will have a rain date of June 2nd.
- We are actively seeking out two parent volunteers for each of the 5 stations. Volunteers will check-in at the front office where they will need to sign in and take their temperature. All volunteers must remain masked during the events. Please access the Sign Up Genius that is linked below to secure a volunteer spot. Please pick one spot so more parents have the opportunity to participate. We must limit our number of volunteers and so we do apologize in advance if you are unable to secure a spot.

Career Day
On the afternoon of May 24th, we will have a school-wide Career Day for virtual and in-person students.
The students will watch a Career Awareness video created by Mrs. Williams with input from our parents where students will learn about various occupations as well as how their interests and current subjects are relevant to their future career possibilities.
This will allow them to discover a variety of available jobs, connect what they are learning in school to real-world situations, and imagine themselves in an occupation. At the end of lesson, the students will complete a Career Day Activity.
4th Grade Students interested in Band next year, please see information below.
The high school band treated us to a mini concert today.

Thank you,
Headphones-In person Students
Teachers have noticed that in several classrooms, students report that their headphones are broken, missing, or at home which can impede classroom instruction.
Please make sure that your child has a working pair of headphones at school at all times.
Thank you,
The Lake County Captains have reinstated their reading program!
The program is a bit different this year as far as the game is concerned.
As you read the form that your student brings home you will notice that the game selection has changed a little from years past. Normally each school would pick one date for all of their students/families to attend, but this year with a socially distant seating layout and reduced capacity that has been changed. Each family will be able to select any game they would like to attend in May or June during the 2021 Captains Season. They want to make sure everyone has a fair opportunity to come to a game and believe this will be the best way to make sure that happens. To pick your date, the forms can be filled out and mailed back to the Lake County Captains or parents can call the office of the Lake County Captains to set up their tickets.
Due to restrictions set by Major League Baseball, no fans will be allowed on the field anytime before/during the game this season. This means that they unfortunately will not be able to have the reading program parade before games like they have had in the past. The Lake County Captains hope to bring this back next season!
