Early Life-----
Harriet Tubman was born in 1820 in a village called Bucktown in Maryland. Harriet's parents were Harriet Greene and Benjamin Ross. They lived near a plantation that belonged to Edward Brodas, their master. The Big House also called the "quarter" is where all the slaves lived.
Her parents named her Araminta, but as a child she was called Minta or Minty. By the time Harriet Ross was six years old, she had absorbed lots of knowledge, she was also taught where to look for the North Star.
