June Newsletter

So much happening between now and June 15th

Math, Reading, Writing and the Like

Winding down, down, down... I am trying to collect everyone's COMPLETED Luvtareed Reading Log. The due date for these is Tuesday, June 7th. Every page filled out accurately and neatly. All genres read. Writing portfolios will come home the last week of school. Still trying to squeeze in some science.

How-To Guides

These products have been the perfect way to end the year. I have enjoyed every second of the presentations. Each child has brought a strong sense of personal voice to their How-To guide. It has been so rewarding to see the quality and creativity in each one. I have linked a few below so you too can appreciate their efforts.

The Greek Play

Everything you need to know. I have costumes for everyone. Sandals, flip flops, or appropriate footwear - your responsibility. Your child will need to bring a big plastic shopping bag to school on Monday or Tuesday so they can bring the costume home for ONE night so you can check it out. Please make sure your child is memorizing his/her lines. No scripts for Acts 1, 4, and 5 tomorrow (Friday). No scripts on Tuesday for all acts. The night of the play all families are being asked to bring a Greek dish for sharing. If it requires silverware, bowls, toothpicks, etc. please bring those as well. Possibilities- pitas and humus, Greek salad, almond cookies, etc. Students and their families should arrive at 6:20, but no earlier. Doors will be locked prior to that time. Students should be in costume. Sibs and grandparents are invited. Only family.

Thursday, June 9th, 11am-1pm

1740 Northeast Fuson Road

The fee is $10.00 for everyone - students and chaperones. We have the place all to ourselves. Just our class. The fee includes skate rental, but roller blades are $2.00 more. Students can bring their own roller blades. Everyone needs a sack lunch. Students can also bring an extra $2.00 to purchase a drink.

We need drivers who are able to stay. Please RSVP if you can help. Permission slip came home today.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Fourth Grade Swim Party

Friday, June 10th, 8:45-10:30am

8521 Madison Avenue North

Bainbridge Island, WA

The whole 4th grade is going to go swimming. There is a $4.00 fee and everyone needs a swimsuit and a towel. To swim in the deep end your child has to have a license. Please follow up with this if you have not already. This permission slip came home today.

RSVP if you can do drop off and pick up. Many drivers needed for our 24 students.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

We have a substantial number of students receiving awards for Accelerated Reader and Math Olympiad. They are very accomplished scholars. I am so proud of their hard work and the resulting progress. The assembly is on Tuesday, June 14 at 9:40.

The Sakai Connection

This time of year, the Sakai staff and counselors are busy introducing your children to their new school. I have already met with the counselors and passed on valuable information about your children's academic and social needs. The two counselors did a short presentation last week and answered student questions. Today we went to Sakai for a visit. The band teacher will be here twice the following week looking for recruits.

Thank you

Outdoor Ed. was a huge success. Testing was too. Everybody brought their A game. So many parents made both experiences work. Thanks to all who contributed treats, made medallions and journals, chaperoned, etc.
