What is it?

Carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide and methane through human activities. This can pertain to a certain group or person.

Why does it Matter?

  • Greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide and methane) contribute to the greenhouse effect and global warming

  • Increasing the carbon quantity in the atmosphere makes it more insulated and harder for sunlight and heat escape, warming up the earth

Effects of Having a Large Carbon Footprint

What You Can do to Help

  • Change method of transportation to busing, cycling etc.

  • Driving a more efficient car

  • Insulating homes

  • Installing solar panels

  • Recycling (manufacturing new items uses electricity)
