St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 2 | 21 OCTOBER 2021
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
The highlight of my week was Monday morning when I heard all about the ‘Dad’s Camp Out’ which was held Saturday night. From all accounts it was a great success, and everyone had a fantastic time. A big thank you to Todd Dawson, Neilson de Souza and Mel Naso for organising this event and to all the volunteers that made this happen. The good news is that plans are already underway for next year!
A reminder that if you are using Kiss and Drive, please ensure that you follow the correct guidelines as outlined in the Parent Handbook. Driving etiquette, courtesy and patience are the key to the success of this service. Please make sure that your coloured label is clearly visible as this will assist staff on duty. ‘Kiss and Drive’ Rules are as follows;
- ‘Kiss and Drive’ times are 8:30am to 8:50am and 3:05pm to 3:30pm
- The entry to ‘Kiss and Drive’ is by LEFT turn only from Forrest Street.
- Cars exiting ‘Kiss and Drive’, exit RIGHT only onto Alexandra Drive.
- Parents are to remain in vehicles at all times. If your child is not capable of exiting the car unassisted, staff will open doors and help these students if necessary.
- If your child is not at ‘Kiss and Drive’ when you arrive, please do not stop or pull over to the side. You are required to go around and join the line again. Staff on duty will ask you to keep moving if this occurs.
- Mobile phones are not to be used in ‘Kiss and Drive’.
- Students are to exit the vehicle on the left-hand side.
- Student bags are to be placed in the vehicle and not in the boot. This will prevent children from having to pass between two vehicles.
- Driving speed through ‘Kiss and Drive’ is at walking pace.
- Please ensure that you stop your vehicle at a safe distance from the car in front of you.
- At Pick Up, only parents with children in Kindergarten or Pre-Primary and with no siblings in other grades, may enter ‘Kiss and Drive’ before 3:05pm.
Next week you will see some staff out and about, completing a survey for the City of South Perth based on traffic control around the school during drop off and pick up. The aim is to collect and present this data to the council to assist with the congestion around the school.
Next Friday is Grandparents Day! The day will begin with an assembly starting at 9am with the Pre-Primary students entertaining us all. I am really looking forward to meeting as many grandparents as I can. Thank you to our P&F representatives for organising the morning tea for our special visitors. Please note Kiss and Drive will be closed on this morning due to the assembly being held on the top oval.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!
God Bless

P&F News
Hi Everyone,
Can you believe it's Fourth Term already, before we know it the year will be over!
I would like to say a huge "Thank You", to Todd, Neilson and Mel from the DOSCA Dads for the amazing job they did organising the magnificent Dads Camp Out last weekend. Everyone I've spoken to cannot stop talking about it. Your hard work is greatly appreciated, let's hope we can have another one next year.
We hope that the faction colour bibs purchased by the P&F for the sports carnival made it easier to spot your child and faction when competing.
We have Grandparents Day on Friday 29th October, I'd like to thank Hayley and Renee for all their organisation. We hope all Grandparents will enjoy the Devonshire Tea.
The Fair is fast approaching. Thank you to all the class reps and volunteers for your help. If you haven't already put your name down for helping, could you please do as many hands make light work, which means everyone gets time to enjoy the day and atmosphere.
The AGM is soon approaching on the 10th November. All parents and careers are very welcomed to come along.
Stay Safe
Cheers
Lara Tulett

Camp Out 2021 was a wonderful event. Dads were able to spends some quality time with their kids and were able to meet other Dads.
Camp Out was a terrific demonstration of our school and the community spirit. We thank Monsignor, Mrs Clarke, Mrs Jenaway, Mrs Creek and all the Dads for their time and support. We would also like to thank Park Crafty Meats in Vic Park, Tammy’s Bakery and Our Ruby Girl coffee van.
We are really keen to organise another Dads event before the end of the year, and start 2022 with welcome celebrations!
If you are keen to be involved or would like to be added to the WhatsApp list, please email your name and phone number to the front office.
Thanks again,
Todd, Mel and Neilsen

Thank you also to Sue Griffin who designed our gorgeous fair posters. They have been printed and copies are sitting in the office. If you can put one up in your work place, local shops, sporting clubs etc please come and pick them up from the office and help me spread the word!
