Principal's Message
October 15, 2021
Dear Walnut Hills High School Families:
As a parent of two daughters myself, I know that nothing is more important than the safety and wellness of our children. Nothing. To that end, I want to share some information about how we are going to handle communications about lockdown/in situations moving forward.
This Wednesday we were on a lock-in due to an incident occurring in our neighborhood. A lock-in means that all students and staff must remain inside the building. We continue classes as usual, but everyone has to pass classes inside of the building. When a lock-in or lockdown occurs, our immediate attention is focused on the safety of our students and staff. We will send a robocall and email to parents notifying you that we are in a lockdown/in situation just as soon as we possibly can. We will send another notification when the lockdown/in has ended.
We need your assistance to make certain that we maintain the utmost safety during lockdown procedures:
Please do not call the school as we must keep all lines of communication open.
It is imperative that you do NOT come to campus. Doing so could potentially prevent police and emergency vehicles from accessing the campus. If we are in an evolving situation, you could unknowingly be putting yourself in harm’s way.
Be aware that a lockdown/in means that no one can enter or exit the building. We are not able to release students to parents in these situations.
If you are aware that your child will be arriving to campus during a lockdown/in, please contact him/her to make arrangements to leave campus and return home or another designated location.
It is challenging to even have to think about these situations, but we know that we must do so to make certain that we take good care of all who are on campus. This change in communication will augment the safety protocols that are already in place.
Sincerely,
John Chambers
