Relay for Life Kick Off

On Friday, March 3rd, Tamanend held a special assembly to kick off the 14th annual Central Bucks Middle Schools Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society held its first Relay for Life in 1985. Since that time, Relay events worldwide have raised over 5 billion dollars.

In 2004, the five Central Bucks Middle Schools organized their own Relay for Life. In the last 13 years, our five middle schools have raised over $3.5 million dollars to support cancer research, prevention, detection, advocacy and efforts to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and caregivers. In 2016 alone, over 300 Tamanend students attended and raised over $31,000 for Relay. In addition to raising funds for the fight against cancer, Relay is a really fun day with friends!

This year, Relay for Life will be held on Saturday, May 20th, at Tohickon Middle School. To register for Relay, students must be in 8th or 9th grade and must complete an online registration through the CBSD website. Once the online registration is complete, an email will be sent to the parent/guardian’s email. Students must bring the SIGNED registration and a $10 registration fee payable to the American Cancer Society to turn in at lunch on Thursday, March 16th. No late registrations are accepted. In addition, all students must raise $50 of donations by Monday, May 15th. Registration instructions and a Relay timeline are available from Mrs. Higgins, Señora Corsino or Señora Mars for any student who was unable to attend the interest meeting during Resource on Monday.

Opening Night!

Tonight is opening night for Crazy for You. After a wildly successful preview for 6th Grade Parent Orientation and our entire student body, we anticipate great music, acting, laughs and applause. Throughout the year, Tamanend staff members look for examples of students showing Respect, Achievement, and Responsibility... R.oA.R. Those students are given "Tiger Tracks" tickets which students can enter into a drawing. Each Friday, Mr. Boyle draws one student's Tiger Track and announces the winner on our Tamanend Today Show. The winner can pick from a number of prizes including great coupons from Subway, Rita's, Randazzo's, Yogurt Tree, and Moe's!

The following students were recent weekly winners!
