Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
February 21st-24th
What's Going On This Week:
- Ms. Harris' Science: This week we will start Lesson 6 which is all about the eight planets and other objects in our solar system. Students will be given a 3-D Solar System project on Tuesday. This is to be done at home and is due on March 3rd.
- Ms. Shipp's Social Studies: This week we will continue our discussion on the New Nation and forming a government. Our focus for Tuesday will be important people. Your child should continue to fill out study guide. We will review government on Wednesday and review for the test on Thursday. New Nation, New Government as the unit test will be given on Friday, February 24th.
- Mrs. Leonard's Math: This week students will begin learning about area and perimeter. There will be a short quiz on Friday over this material.
- Mrs. Thurston's Math/ELA: This week we are starting metric length and metric weight. Quiz is still TBD. In ELA, we are continuing main idea and theme. Students will be working on strategies to help identify and compare the two. We will then start summarizing. In writing, we will continue working on TDA responses.
- Ms. Harris' GT Math/ELA: This week students will start working on area and perimeter. They will have an in-class project using area and perimeter that they will work on Thursday and Friday. We will also start daily math review. Each day students will need to complete 5 review problems and we will go over these during class. This will help keep concepts fresh in their heads as we go into testing time. In ELA, students will continue working on grammer, TDA responses, and mythology. They will perform a reader's theater on different myths on Friday. They will be working on these throughout the week.

Each read aloud will only take 10 minutes or so. I'd love to have 3-4 parents pop in throughout the day to surprise the students with different books. If you are interested, please let me know.
