I think that This Is Not My Hat won the caldecott because Klassen's drawings and paintings were colorful and realistic. Also, Klassen used a description of the plot, theme, charicters, and expression in the pictures and they were vibrant.
Summary
This Is Not My Hat is about a little fish who stole a hat from a big fish. The little fish thinks that, since the big fish was sleeping, the big fish will not know that it was the little fish took it. The crab saw the little fish with the hat but the little fish thinks that the crab will not tell. But......SPOILER ALERT........... the crab does tell the big fish. The little fish is going to where the tall grass grows. At the end, I think, the big fish eats the little fish and gets his hat back.
