The Patriot Way
September 18, 2023 Vol. 6
Front Office Notes
Patriot Nation,
Week 7 of school starts today, which means the "2 week-drill" starts now! We all need to take a hard look at current grades and standings in our classes to be sure any tests are made up, missing work is turned in, and conversations with teachers are had.
Tutoring sessions are going well. Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoons until 5:30 in the library. We would like to see more students take advantage of these opportunities. See Ms. Grimmett in the Library for details.
Homecoming starts next week along with all of its festivities. The homecoming court is set and the teams for the Olympics are submitted. Please be looking for communication soon if you are a part of either group.
Seniors and Senior Parents: Please check calendars for September 26, 6-8p. The College and Skilled Trades Fair will be held in the PAC. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what our seniors can do as they wrap up their final year at school and embark on their career preparations after in just eight more months (hard to believe, but they are growing up)!
Lastly, school pictures are Tuesday with make-ups on Wednesday!
Have a great week!
Best Regards,
Seeger Administration

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Everyone can play a role in preventing suicide. Please take the time to learn the warning signs of suicide and how to help keep a person struggling with suicidal ideations safe (at the end of the newsletter as well).
Below I have included information on Warning Signs and 5 Steps To Help from the National Institute of Mental Health.
One of the tools to give someone struggling with a crisis is the number for the Crisis and Suicide Prevention Hotline. You can simply text or call 988 and get help from a crisis volunteer.

Welcome back! In this week’s Teacher Feature, we interviewed Ms. Briles, a returning Seeger alumni and our newest paraprofessional (teaching aide) at Seeger.
First, we asked Ms. Briles about her future, wondering if she has a bucket list. She told us that she does! It’s where she records the states that she hopes to visit! A couple of these states include Montana and Wyoming! We also asked about her past. She said that if she had any advice she could give a younger version of herself, it would be to “Always be yourself.”
Still curious about Mrs. Briles’s present? Here are some more fascinating details!
Flag Etiquette
Mrs. Conrad's STEM Class
Mrs. Conrad wanted to share our winners of the roller coaster STEM challenge. Students had to transport a ping pong ball with a roller coaster that was at least two feet tall and two feet long.
Congratulations to Blaze Garrison, Wyatt Cole, and Izzy Johnson!
Audrey Matthews
Audrey Mathews has been chosen for student of the week by Mrs. Davis. When Mrs. Davis is nominating student of the week, she says she looks for students that come to class prepared and give their best effort. She also loves when students solve problems by themselves. Audrey said her favorite thing in Mrs. Davis’s class is reading. She also said it feels amazing to be the student of the week.
Congratulations, Audrey!

September Athletes Coming Soon!
Seeger administration, along with help and support of our coaches, want to acknowledge our student athletes who make a impact in the classroom and on our teams. Each month, coaches will recognize athletes who demonstrate quality athletic, academic, and leadership characteristics that make our school, teams, and community proud.
The athletes will then be presented with a certificate and pin to commemorate their accomplishment.
The minimum requirements to be nominated for Scholar-Athlete of the Month are:
- No discipline referrals
- Must be an honor-roll student (all grades 80% or better)
- Made a significant impact during games, practices, and/or meetings for the month
- Must participate in a JV/Varsity sport
Parent Help Needed!
Please use the button below for sign-ups.
Any family with an athlete this year is asked to volunteer for 1 event.
We appreciate our community and all the volunteers! Due to the willing hands we donated over $10,000 in 2022/2023 for athletic jackets, scholarships, team meals, and team donations for all MSD of Warren County schools!

Cross-Country
The Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams had dominant performances at the Bi-County Meet on Tuesday!
All Bi-County consists of the top 7 runners in each race and Seeger had 5 boys (with one sick who would have made 6) and 6 girls garnering All Bi-County Honors! Both teams ended with Perfect Scores, which means they had the best possible score!
All Bi-County Runners:
Ethan Guminski (Bi-County Champion)
Nathan Odle
Jack Puterbaugh
Landon Dispennett
Malachi Lathrop
Hadessah Austin (Bi-County Champ)
Caleigh Purcell
Hayden Frodge
Adara Austin
Emily Greene
Claire Nern
These runners, as well as the rest of the team, continue to improve and are ranked in the Top 10 of the State's Small Schools:
Girls continue to be a solid #2 in the State Rankings!
Boys have moved up to #10 in the State Rankings!
Our next competition is next Tuesday at the North Vermillion Invite and then next week on Saturday, the Varsity will go against some of the top small school programs in Illinois in Ogden, IL.

Football
The Football team won Friday 34-20 against Parke Heritage. This puts the team at 4-1 on the season and in the top of the WRC standings. This Friday they travel to Fountain Central to take on a tough Mustang squad in another WRC match-up. FC, Seeger, and SV all share common records and are all undefeated in WRC play. SV plays RP where SV looks to handle the Panthers pretty well.
Come to FC to support the guys as this looks to be a decisive game for the top honors to remain undefeated in conference play and look to continue their pursuit of the WRC title!
Fountain Central is ranked #206 in the entire state of IN in the Sagrin's (39.57). Seeger is #200 (40.33).
Coach Ragan (tragan@msdwarco.k12.in.us)
Golf
The girls came in 4th. They were 4 strokes from 2nd and 12 strokes from 1st. Joey Salts advances to regional next week.

Come Join FFA!
Hey Patriots!! It’s your 2023-2024 FFA reporter, Jessi Switzer, here to give you all the information about upcoming events YOU can be a part of if you join FFA. Our next meeting will be this Wednesday, September 6th, at 6pm in Mr. Nickle’s room in the AG building. Our activity this month is highway cleanup which will also be held on September 6. This will start right after school and entails cleaning up any trash that is along the highway right in front of the school, which the FFA is in charge of. Bring gloves!! You can stay after the cleanup until the meeting if you would like. If you can’t make it to highway cleanup, that’s okay!! You can always still join us for our meeting! Food WILL be provided so come hungry!! Meeting should conclude around 7pm. If you have not filled out a membership form and are interested in joining FFA, please do so as soon as possible. Another fun thing coming up that you can do with the FFA is district kickoff. District kickoff is a great opportunity to meet other FFA members from all different schools. District kickoff is on September 21st and will be at Ivy Tech in Lafayette. More information on District kickoff will be discussed at September's chapter meeting, so if you are interested in going, talk to us then or by email as soon as possible .One of the best ways to get involved in FFA is by joining a team. There are 4 teams you can choose from when joining; the livestock judging team, forestry team, crops team and soils team. Right now, the forestry team, crops team and soils team are all ready to start practicing and looking for new members. You can get more information about these teams by coming to September’s meeting, or reaching out to Mrs. St. John or Ms. Crowder.
If you have any questions regarding FFA or district kickoff, please stop by the AG building and talk to Mr. Nickle or email any of the advisors or myself.
If you have any questions regarding the forestry, crops or soils teams, please contact Mrs. St. John or stop by and see Ms. Crowder in the AG building.
