WOW…It’s hard to believe that we’re now in the last two months of the school year!

We have a lot going on in the coming weeks: Brunch with Bunnies brought to you by our student council, family activity night to support our 5th grade Woody Island trip, and the return of the Spring Concert for all North Star Students, to name a few. Keep an eye out for our weekly newsletters which shares details on upcoming events.

I also wanted to mention that this month our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking the AK Star state assessment. April 11 -14, 4th and 5th graders will take the Reading and Math portions of AK Star. April 18 - 21 will be 3rd grade's turn for the Reading and Math assessments, and 5th grade will take the Science assessment. We will be testing for approximately ninety minutes each morning, with lots of breaks built in throughout that time. The goal is to set students up for a positive, stress-free testing experience.

If you want to deposit lunch money with a credit card through your PowerSchool parent portal,

please remember that you will need to access the online version.

You can find that link on the www.KIBSD.org website, under the FAMILIES tab.

KIBSD does not support the PowerSchool App, so you won't be able to pay fees that way.

Even though some student info is viewable on the app,

it does not connect to our PowerSchool lunch or activity fee accounts.

We are also always happy to accept cash or checks for student lunch accounts in the office.

Call us @907-486-7500 if you have questions or need any help with parent portal access.

Start the process and be ready to help out at school.

Once background checks are approved, they are valid for three years.

Just email volunteer@kibsd.org and let them know that you would like to volunteer at North Star.

The Human Resources department will walk you through the rest.
