Historical Events: Korean War
On June 25th, 1950 some 75,000 soldiers began to fight it what is known as the Korean War. The North Korean Army started it by crossing the 38th Parallel which is the boundary between North and South Korea. This would later be known as the first action that started the Cold War. After a month of fighting between North and South Korea The United states finally stepped in during the month of July on behalf of South Korea. This made American Officials question this action for they feared a third world war could begin. Casualties upon Casualties occurred. Then finally in July of 1953 The Korean war ended. 5 million civilians and soldiers died and yet the Peninsula is still divided to this day.

Natural Disasters In Asia
Drought
Droughts are the most common natural disaster that kill people in Asia. The hardest countries that get hit are India, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. 5 years ago India was affected 130 million people, nearly 15 percent of its entire population. The situation is more critical in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where millions of people are at risk but fewer resources are available. Droughts are the most severe natural disaster found in Asia and is killing million every 7 Years.
Flood
Following all these droughts giant floods occur. For example in China after a 3 year drought waves upon waves of flooding occurred killing 4 million citizens. The death toll includes victims of drowning, disease, or famine related to the flooding. The reason this flood occurred was because the soil in the river basin was baked hard after years of drought, so it could not absorb the run-off from the snow in the mountains. On top of that several monsoons hit flooding the river even more. After a while a typhoon hit and the water just bursted out of the river. This only one of the several cases of floods that happens each year.
Earthquake
830,000 people each year are killed by severe earthquakes in Asia. This is because underground homes are common and are suppose to be safe until they collapse... Many people had the thought that building underground homes would give everyone a safe house to go to. Then a 7.9 earthquake hit china and 2/3 of the safe houses collapsed causing several people to die or permenately injured. This is just on of many earthquaes that have caused a series of many deaths.

People
People: Daily Life and Cuisine
Daily life is Different for each country for example people in Pakistan would never eat pork but chinese people probably eat it for breakfast each morning. When people wake up in the morning they get up from a western conventional style bed n most countries. In poor countries a blanket or two is what they would sleep on. People use the conveniences around the cities for daily needs such as pharmacies, markets and in urban areas malls are popular. Commuting is just like the United States in which people don't live in close proximity necessarily but in communities near by. EX: The Woodlands-Houston. The Asian cuisine consists of a variety of small meats and a vast amount of fresh cut fruit and vegetables. Traditional cuisines consist of very little fat and a huge amount of protein.
