Macbeth Act 5 scene 1
1979 Trevor Nunn vs. 2010 Rupert Goold
"OUT DAMN'D SPOT"
The 1979 film made by Trevor Nunn was more accurate to the play. The scene in the film was more straight forward and short as the same as the play. It didn't include extra parts like the blood from the faucet and the chemical in her hands as Rupert Goold did in his film. I liked the film by Goold because it was more detailed and not in a plain black background.
1979 Trevor Nunn
A similarity I noticed between both films, was that Lady Macbeth played the same character, being crazy and insane. The characters were both feeling guilty and remorseful. It was significant because in the play that's how Lady Macbeth's character was, they didn't changed anything about that.
similarities
A difference that was more noticeable in both films was when Lady Macbeth was rubbing her hands, in the film by Rupert she poured a chemical on her hands trying to remove the spot that only her conscious could see. The director also added the faucet and blood coming out of it, reminding Lady Macbeth of the blood in Duncan's body when he was murder. This scene was significant because it showed how crazy Lady Macbeth was and to understand better how Lady Macbeth's character was.
2010 Rupert Goold
One difference main difference I noticed in both films was that in one film by Rupert Gold, the doctor asks about the light that Lady Macbeth was carrying with her when she was sleep walking. The light represents something significant because it was a command that the light needed to be with Lady Macbeth at all times. The light represented some sort of hope for Lady Macbeth, so her mind and soul wouldn't be as dark and have some light.
