Counselor Update
It is already that time of year! You should have received a course selection sheet and course description packet from the Counseling Department! Students are already doing well with returning signed sheets, so please keep them coming! We would like them ASAP!
In other news, there is a Hygiene Drive going on across the district, and the Counseling Department has a large box to collect any and all personal hygiene items by March 7! Items might include : shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
There has been some stress and anxiety surrounding the global pandemic and other issues. If your child is feeling especially down during after school hours, please know that there is a free 24/7 line for support texting HOPE to 741741. Be well!
Early Release Wednesdays & WALT Options
Each Wednesday, students will have an early release. Students will leave at 1:10 pm.
WALT: Washington Afternoon Learning Time
Students attending WALT will stay in the building until 3:00 pm. There are two ways in which students would attend WALT:
- Families sign their child(ren) up for WALT on Wednesdays. If you would like your child to attend WALT each week, please call our office to sign your child up for WALT with a start date of Mar. 8th. Office # 920-663-9570
- Students are required to attend WALT due to missing assignments/assessments. When students are missing assignments, teachers will assign them to attend a MANDATORY WALT session. Teachers will contact families and caregivers if a required WALT time is needed.
Parking Reminders
After School Parking
- No parking is allowed on the north side of Division St.
- No parking is allowed on the west side of S. 21st St, because it is reserved for bus parking.
- Parking is allowed in all other areas around school. Adults can park on S. 21st, 22nd St, 23rd St. and on the south side of Division St. (School side of the road).
- Please refrain from stopping in the road to pick-up your student, because it causes a traffic back-up.
General Parking:
- Please watch for student pedestrians crossing the roadway....be patient due to large volume of students and cars in the small area.
- Felician Village is asking that when picking up students at Washington we do not park in their parking lot or block their entrance. Their employees are having difficulty finding parking spots and leaving and entering the lot. Thank you for the help.

SWIRL- A School Goal
The Washington Middle School goal is to improve our students' literacy skills by creating an opportunity for every student, every day, in every class to practice the skills of Speaking, Writing, Interacting, Reading and Listening- SWIRL.
We are excited to continue to share SWIRL in every advisory classroom, every Thursday. We are all watching a video of a community member talking to our students about how they use the skills of SWIRL in their careers. Our goal is for students to see SWIRL in many sorts of jobs- letting them know that SWIRL is a part of their future.
Thank you to Pa Kou, a Behavioral Specialist for sharing her story about SWIRL with our students.
