Past Week...
This past week we studied estimation and continued to add and subtract fractions. We also took a daily grade to determine everyone's level of understanding. We've reviewed the daily grade in class, and I have retaught and reviewed the areas of concern. Please make sure to review the eClass video for rectangle models for addition and subtraction.
Upcoming Week...
On Monday, Oct. 31st, we will have the Show What You Know for adding/subtracting fractions. Tuesday, we will review; and then, on Wednesday, Nov. 2nd will be the assessment on the addition and subtraction of fractions. Please review notes in your math journal and review what you are having trouble with.
Today, students got a new CML and it is due on Friday, Nov. 4th. Next week, we will have our first CML meet. During math this past week, we analyzed the scenario of different word problems and looked at key words. It is important to understand what you are being asked to do in word problems in order to solve it correctly. We are using the Brookwood Engineering and Design Process to guide us as we solve problems. You can see a Quick step sample of it in students' math journals. We will continue problem solving weekly.
We have only two boxes of tissues left for math class. If you can, please send a box of tissues for our math class. Thanks so much for your help.
Have a great weekend!
