We've got committees forming and we want YOU to join!! Our first three committees for 20-21 are the Bylaws Committee (which will review and recommend edits to our proposed bylaw changes), the Partnership Committee (which will work to plan and facilitate PTO's participation in school-organized events), and the Fundraising Committee (which will plan the type and facilitation of future fundraisers). Join any of these committees by sending an email to LaCostePTO@gmail.com by September 25th.
Last call to pre-order campus t-shirts! In order to guarantee you will be able to purchase the shirt sizes you need, you must place your order on or before this Sunday, September 20th. If you want to guarantee your sizes, but will be unable to pay in the next few days, please reach out to PTO at LaCostePTO@gmail.com by this Sunday, and they will be happy to layaway your order. Attendance
Parents if your child is an in person learner and is not able to physically be on campus please have your learner login through classlinks.
The skyward system automatically sends out notifications to parents if students are not logged in through class links at 4 pm every day. Please disregard and continue to complete classwork and log in through class links.
Some troubleshooting tips for logging in:
1. Make sure siblings are completely logged out of all platforms before the next sibling logs in
2. Always login through class links via the Medina Valley Website
3. Complete the daily attendance form daily.
4. Please make sure to log out of all learning platforms daily and login back in through class links the next day.

Counselor's Corner
I’ve begun to introduce myself and my role to students during their library rotation. No worries, they still have time to check out books! Lessons can be found on the Guidance and Counseling website and within my virtual office. There are also some resources in my office the students may find fun and parents might find useful; feel free to click on any of the clipart and explore! There is also a link on the Guidance and Counseling website to request services from myself and our social worker, Mrs. Minerovic.
Student Lighthouse Leaders
The staff Lighthouse Team met on September 10th and reviewed all the applications for campus wide jobs. There were a total of 49 students who applied for the positions! We are beyond humbled and proud to have so many students willing to dedicate their time to help our campus excel. Meet our leaders! The staff member in charge of the teams will be in contact with your child soon.

Get Caught Reading!!
LaCoste Elementary students often go above and beyond! With that in mind, we love to acknowledge when they do. Reading is an important everyday activity. It shows great examples of the Leadership Habits we know are the foundation of our success. We like to “Catch Students Reading”. Examples of that would be; students independently choosing to read as a leisure activity or students achieving a reading goal they had set for themselves, like finishing their first chapter book or reading their first book independently.
In person learners AND remote learners are both included! Simply click and fill out the form below. Each week a name is randomly drawn from those submissions. Their name is displayed on a bulletin board in the library, mentioned in our morning campus announcements and posted in our S’mores newsletter. The student is also given a prize for their accomplishment. Prizes for remote learners will be mailed home.
If you have any questions please email maureen.geurin@mvisd.org.At LaCoste Elementary, our leaders stick together! So “Stay Sharp, and Get Caught Reading!”
Caught Reading Winner!
Students who read “above and beyond” by choosing to read and surpassing reading goals, can be “Caught Reading” by staff and by family. A winner is selected randomly.
This weeks winner is:
This week’s winner is Kendal Royal who was caught by Mrs.Graff reading during free time!
