From the Courier Hub -
Teaching and modeling proper behavior in young children isn’t always easy for schools, but at Kegonsa Elementary School, the staff has been recognized by two state agencies for being among the best in Wisconsin.
This month, the school announced it was awarded a “Bronze” level award from the Wisconsin Response to Intervention Center and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for its work in “establishing a system of behavior supports to improve student outcomes.” Read more here

School Wellness
We are asking that for all parties, birthdays, student of the week celebrations we bring in either non-food items or healthy treats. Our wellness team and WFKids parent group have already come up with a ton of fun and inexpensive items that you can bring in. Classroom teachers too are wonderful resources for ideas as well.

Bounce Back
Bounce Back for Elementary Students
Bounce Back is a school-based group intervention for elementary students who have been exposed to stressful and traumatic events. With 20-50% of American children experiencing trauma within their families, at their schools, and in their communities, it is essential to support children in their healing. Bounce Back teaches students ways to cope with and recover from traumatic experiences, so they can get back to doing what they want and need to do in life.
Each elementary school in Stoughton will implement this 10 week program with select students in the 4th grade. Every 4th grade student will complete the screening process. From there, select individuals will complete an additional interview process to determine if they are a good fit for the group. The Bounce Back group will begin in January, meeting once a week at school. Additional information and passive consent forms will be provided to families on September 16th. If you have any questions, please contact Jake Schultz, school counselor at Kegonsa.
Upcoming Meetings: 6:15-7:15 in the Kegonsa Library/Free Childcare
