No More Bugs!
By: Alex Ramos and Sarah Sachak
Campaign Proposal
An exterminator should come to Coppell High School every month to exterminate any pests present in the school. This is for the safety and well-being of every student and member of the school's staff.
Speaker
Students that attend Coppell High School and want the school to be as safe and healthy as it can be, which includes the extermination of pests in the school.
Audience
Students attending Coppell High School who want pests to be removed from the school on a monthly basis.
Parents whose kids attend Coppell High School and want the school to be free of pests that can interrupt classroom learning and cost the school lots of money repairing what pests destroy.
Purpose
Having an exterminator come monthly has many advantages such as: prevents pests from disturbing classroom learning, prevents the school from having to pay to repair what pests destroy, allowing the students, teachers, and parents to feel like the school is that much safer. The campaign will help gain the approval and support of students and parents, so that the school will have to take action.
Ad #1: Poster by Sarah Sachak
Target Audience
High school students.
Ad Placement and Reasoning
The poster will be placed in CHS halls C, B, D, on the Senior bridge, and in the cafeteria. Most, if not all students go to at least one of these locations during their school day. This will maximize poster views and get more people to encourage counselors and sign a petition to get rid of the bugs at school.
Propaganda Techniques
The propaganda ad technique, testimonial, is effectively used in the poster by persuading students to get an exterminator to come to CHS. Arnold Schwarzenegger is portrayed on the movie poster of the movie that he starred in, Terminator. Hopefully students will be encouraged by seeing that he "promotes" getting an exterminator and go help get one themselves.
Ad#2: Newspaper Ad by Alex Ramos
Target Audience
Parents of Coppell High School students that read the newspaper and would support our campaign.
Ad Placement and Reasoning
The ad will be located in a popular newspaper, commonly read by residents of Coppell. It will be placed there because it will grab the attention of parents of Coppell high school Students, and at least let them know that our campaign exists. If they support it, the campaign has support at the community level, and the parents may talk to the School Board.
Propaganda Techniques
In this ad, the propaganda technique used is appeal to fear, which is effective because people don't like bugs, and are often afraid of them. Given this, who would want armies of pests crawling around the high school that their child attends? Certainly not the parents of those children, inspiring them to support the campaign and hopefully, inspire a change.
