How to Update Windows 10
I ran this very same article back in October, but I think it is important enough to run again. Next week, some of our students will be taking the SOL Writing Test (5th + 8th grades) and it is important that your computers are running smoothly for the test. Making sure that Windows is up to date is a big part of your computer running smoothly.
Keeping Windows up to date is very important for keeping your laptop secure and running smoothly. A lot of times, if you notice that your laptop is behaving oddly, there is a decent chance that it needs to be updated to fix the problem.
It is highly recommended that you run Windows updates a minimum of once per month
This can be done at school OR at home
The resources below will help you to properly update Windows. Both resources go over the same update process. One is visual in the form of an infographic and the other is a short video. Check them out!
Digital Citizenship
Digital citizenship education is a wide ranging topic, but it basically boils down to learning how to be a model citizen in the digital world. This is very important concept to learn as digital platforms are becoming more and more common in our society. Here at Pennington, we use a curriculum that was developed by Common Sense Education. This curriculum explores the following topics:
- Media Balance & Well-Being
- Privacy & Security
- Digital Footprint & Identity
- Relationships & Communication
- Cyberbullying, Digital Drama, and Hate Speech
- News & Media Literacy
Each of these topics is tailored to each of our grade levels here at Pennington and should engage students in topics that are relevant to their age. In this newsletter, we will cover three of these topics during the first semester and three in the second semester.
