A Message from Our School Counselor
Wildwood Elementary will be participating in Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 23-27th. We will be focusing on “Making Healthy Choices.” We believe that instilling healthy habits at an early age is crucial for our students' well-being and academic success. See the flier below for the activities we have planned for the week.
Below are some guidelines that can be practiced at home as important daily habits that can help students with their overall physical and emotional well being.
- Nutrition: Healthy eating is a fundamental part of a child's development. We encourage parents to send nutritious snacks and lunches with their children. Please consider including a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins in their meals.
- Hydration: Proper hydration is vital for concentration and overall health. Encourage your child to drink water throughout the day, and provide them with a reusable water bottle for school.
- Physical Activity: Regular physical activity is essential for children's physical and mental health. We are proud to offer a physical education program to help students stay active. Please ensure your child has comfortable shoes for outdoor activities.
- Screen Time: Excessive screen time can have a negative impact on children's health. We recommend setting limits on screen time and promoting alternatives like reading, creative play, and spending time with family and friends.
- Sleep: A good night's sleep is crucial for a child's well-being and academic performance. Establish a regular bedtime routine, ensuring your child gets the recommended amount of sleep for their age.
- Mental Health: Mental health is as important as physical health. Encourage open communication with your child about their feelings and emotions. If you notice any signs of emotional distress, please reach out to our school counselor or nurse.
- Leading by Example: As parents, you play a vital role in teaching healthy habits. Children learn by example, so modeling healthy behaviors at home is an effective way to instill these values in your child.
We appreciate your partnership in promoting healthy choices in our school community.
~ Mrs. Martinez
