Glenview Weekly Update
March 2, 2022
Principal's Corner
Glenview Families,
Please see the attached correspondence from Mrs. Bittner, Superintendent, regarding the mask mandate. Also attached is a COVID FAQ sheet. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact my office.
Please be reminded that students must be fully vaccinated in order to avoid quarantine if exposed. In accordance with the Department of Health guidance, an individual is considered up to date after having received all recommended doses, including a booster dose when eligible. Fully vaccinated means at least two weeks past the completion of the series and a booster if applicable. Please ensure that the school nurse has a copy of your child’s vaccination card if applicable to avoid unnecessary quarantine.
We are celebrating Read Across America week with Sports Day today. Students are dressed in their favorite sports gear! Yesterday, all grades participated in "Drop Everything and Read". All students sat in our hallways and read their favorite book at the end of the day.
Sincerely,
Eric Rosen

Lessons of the Week!
Mrs. Smith's 6th grade
The sixth graders just finished reading a novel called It Rained Warm Bread. It is a story written in verse about one boy's experience surviving the Holocaust. To culminate our unit, each student created a Book Bento Box. Similar to the Japanese concept of beautifully arranging food in a bento box, a book bento requires compiling and presenting small objects to capture the themes and inspiration within a book, where every object is meticulously arranged and organized in the snapshot. Students will then utilize the technology of Thinglink to create a multimedia presentation of their book bento. We had so much fun brainstorming ideas and arranging our book bentos!
Mrs. Boyd's 5th grade
The 5th grade scientists are studying density and how the concentration of a solution effects its density. Groups were given four salt solutions and were tasked with using a trial and error approach to layer the liquids. When done correctly, the liquids will stack due to their density.
Nurse's Update
Nurse and Covid Updates:
Absences: When you are calling the school to report your student absent, please include the reason for the absence (covid like symptoms, vacation, stomach ache, etc.) Otherwise, you will be receiving a phone call or email to confirm the reason for absence.
Also, according to a recent CDC update, for a student who has Covid like symptoms, a negative covid will be required to return to school.
Classroom treats:
At any time, classroom treats for birthdays or special events, must be pre approved by the principal and classroom teacher. NO homemade treats will be allowed. We suggest all treats be individually prepackaged. The students will be given these treats at the end of the day to be eaten at home.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bolletino at bolletit@gogarnets.com or Mrs. Hughes at hughest@gogarnets.com

Lunch Orders
As you know, the school lunches are free. As the students enter their classrooms, the teacher will ask each student if they brought lunch from home or if they are getting a school lunch. The teachers will take the students' school lunch orders based on the menu choices for that day. The menus are located on the school website. If the student is getting a school lunch for that day, we will assume that you approved your child to receive and consume the school lunch.
