THIS WEEK'S SOUTHARD STARS
This week I'd like to share a "feel good" story...
At Tuesday's "Penguin Patch," one of the parent volunteers witnessed a teacher who gave $6 each to three of his/her students who didn't bring any money. The parent was so moved by this gesture, that she gave a card with a beautiful note and $60 to the the teacher. The teacher then donated the money to purchase Christmas gifts for our students in need.
Another parent matched the PTA's donation to ensure the students who did not bring money were able to purchase gifts. Our George Southard community is quite remarkable during this season of giving!
Let's give a shout out to our teacher aides: Kelly C., Ruth T., Kathy W., Christine D.C., Mary R., Christine A., and Krissy N. They are always so flexible, and fill in all the "cracks" within the school day. From covering recess and meetings as needed, staying late with buses, being an integral part of arrival and dismissal, and supporting teachers and students in the classroom, they add so much value to GS. Thank you!
