Tik Tok, Twitter, and SnapChat, OH MY!
Just this week, we have had an uptick of shared information, a lot of it inappropriate at best, and at worst, indecent and disturbing. Unfortunately, we need your help to monitor what our kids see on their phones at school. Below, you will find several links to help you make sense of these ever-changing apps and programs.
First of all, please have your child turn off the AirDrop feature on their phones to only accept data from contacts in their phone. Better yet, turn off the AirDrop all together. The vast majority of our students don't WANT to receive the photos, videos, etc. that they get on a daily basis from people they might not even know. Not only might our innocent children be exposed to material they aren't ready to see, but when a student sends inappropriate content to others, the ramifications, both with school discipline and with law enforcement, can be devastating. The sooner you have these conversations, the better.
This content doesn't always get passed anonymously, as AirDrop allows to happen. Quite often, Tik Tok, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat are breeding grounds for predators and other unsavory characters to influence your child more than you know. It is NEVER a bad idea to do random phone checks just to make sure that you are protecting your most treasured possession, your child!
Please use the resources below to have real conversations with our Eagles about how to best make good choices online so that we can keep them little just a bit longer, and we can protect their innocence as much as possible.

8th Grade Field Trip to See The Pajama Game at CLHS - LAST CHANCE!
LAST CHANCE TO TURN IN PERMISSION SLIPS IN 1/24/2022
January 10, 2022
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The eighth-grade class has been invited to attend the Clear Lake High School Fine Arts presentation of their musical, Pajama Game. The performance is Thursday, January 27, 2022 in the auditorium of CLHS. Our students will ride buses, and they should arrive between 9:30 and 9:45. The performance will run from 10:00 through 11:00, and end with a time for questions the students have regarding any of their course selections for high school. We are expecting them to be back on the bus between 11:15 and 11:30. Any student assigned to serve ISS or OSS on January 27 will not be allowed to attend the musical. A permission slip and emergency information form are attached. Please be sure to sign both sides and complete the requested information. There is no charge to attend this play, and it is voluntary. Students that do not go on the trip will attend their regular classes on our campus. The attached page, signed and completed, is due to the front office no later than Monday, January 24, 2022.
Thank you, Jepsey Kimble Principal

Message from the Clinic
While we are seeing a slow decrease in the number of COVID cases in CCISD, we are not out of harm's way when it comes to getting sick. Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well. We are starting to see the usual fall illnesses pop up at school (strep, rhinovirus, seasonal allergies, RSV, and even flu). This is making dealing with school illness a bit more challenging in the midst of the pandemic. Please be patient as we try to navigate through this together. You can help me by continuing to do the daily Wellness Screener with your child each morning.
Your child needs to be able to pass the Skyward Wellness Screener in order to attend school. If your child does not pass the Screener, you can indicate this by filling out the Wellness Screener on Skyward family access. This will notify me that they failed the screener and excuse their absence for the day. I will reach out to you that day by email or phone.
Please do not send your child to school sick. If your student has any of the following symptoms, they need to stay home. (cough, fever of 100 or higher, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, headache, fatigue, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea/ vomiting, diarrhea, chills, muscle aches).
Depending on the symptoms they are having, length of time they have been going on, etc. your child may have to complete one of the below return to school options before they can come back to school.
- be seen by their medical provider and get a note clearing them to return to school, OR
- have negative PCR covid test, OR
- be out 5 days from symptom onset
Allergies are tough this time of year. If your child has documented seasonal allergies and is taking their regular allergy medication and their symptoms are not improving, I encourage you to reach out to their medical provider for further guidance and clearance to return to school.
If you have any questions about Illness/Covid protocols for this school year, you can visit https://ccisd.net/covid19. There are several flow charts to help you decide if you can send your child to school or not. Or, you can always call me at 281-284-4100.
