Wind & Oar Boat School

August 1st - 19th, 2016

The Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools presents the Wind & Oar Summer Boat School

Vancouver Public Schools in partnership with the Wind & Oar Boat School is offering a FREE comprehensive program designed to engage communities in hands-on-learning, where basic woodworking and maritime skills converge with environmental stewardship and watershed ecology. With a focus on youth programs, Wind & Oar provides hands-on woodworking experience while making math and science relevant. This experience also develops critical thinking, team building and leadership skills, all of which are important aspects of successful career development. The skills students gain by creating a tangible object with their hands gives them confidence and motivation they can carry into future endeavors, whether they are academic or in the workplace.
