WMS Learning Model Shift
For January 19th through January 29th
Dear WMS Students and Families:
Good morning and I hope you are all enjoying your day off today. In this Special Edition of the WMS Rise-Up Newsletter, you will find important information as Wilmington Middle School shifts to a fully remote model starting January 19th and ending January 29th.
As you read in the notice sent by Dr. Brand on Saturday, January 16th (linked below), WMS is moving into Remote Learning Status. This change is different from before Winter Break in two ways:
- Only four schools are moving into remote Learning Status: WMS, WHS, Woburn Street, and the North.
- Our High Needs Students (Cohort D) will be coming into the building.
Please note that all virtual parent meetings, including those for IEPs, will continue to be conducted virtually as scheduled.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate yet another change during this tumultuous school year. I know that this decision can bring many difficulties' however, it has been made for the safety of staff, students, and families. I am confident that as a school, we will Rise-Up and overcome any obstacles together. As always, Mr. Faircloth, Mr. Caira, and I will be available to assist you in any way.
Dr. Quirk
Overview of Cohorts
- Cohorts A and B will meet together, as one class, during the scheduled times below, as they had earlier this fall.
- Cohort C will continue to meet as they have been with their teachers.
- Cohort D will be coming into WMS and will be meeting with their teachers during the scheduled times below. For these students, it will be similar to the fall, however, they will not be meeting at the WHS. The Transportation Department will be sending nformation to you directly if your students chose to take the bus.

Student Expectations
I would especially like to remind students that they should be logging on a few minutes earlier and be attentive and ready for class. I understand that it can be hard as you are at home, but it is really important especially now as we are coming close to the end of the grading period.
If at any time you have questions, please contact your teachers or administration for assistance.
