Tiger Tribute
November 11-15
Instructional Rounds
Our two big take-aways from the feedback we received were that planning intentional student to student interactions and encouraging higher level thinking from our students will significantly lift the instruction. The team repeatedly commented how very hard Fair Grove staff and teachers are working and I am 100% confident that with some minor tweaks-not additions, we will see the continued growth that we all want to see.
One of the things that I found most helpful as a classroom teacher was to have a few "go-to" strategies that were easily adaptable across subjects and didn't require a great deal of preparation. It made my planning time more manageable and made the structures and routines more predictable for kids. I didn't have to "teach" a new method, worksheet, strategy every day-they eventually knew what I was asking them to do and the only thing I had to plan in advance was which strategy I would use and what my questioning needed to be to support it.
As a team, one of the things that Leadership wanted to incorporate was a quick strategy each week in the Tiger Tribute. Something that is research-based, requires minimal preparation, and will lift student conversation. So...stay tuned each week for Cognition Corner (You know there has to be alliteration!)
