2018-2019 Writing Portfolio Expecations with Actionable Feedback Strategies for the Classroom
Making Connections with Hexagon
The ability to select, prioritize, categorize and link evidence is a valuable skill that students can learn if given the chance in the classroom. Using hexagons is a particularly simple and effective way of developing these skills. The approach involves providing students with key pieces of information on hexagons. Their job is to organize these into categories of their choice, with hexagons being placed adjacent to each other to highlight the links between the factors described. Teachers will learn about how to use this strategy in their classroom with annotations to ultimately provide the teacher with a deeper understanding of their students thought process. This session is open to all content areas. This session will take an hour.
