"Heelies"--> the shoes with the wheels on the bottom have come back. The students can wear the shoes WITHOUT the wheels. These shoes are a distraction to learning and a safety concern.
Old FOBs. The new FOBs will work across the whole district. If hourly staff members wish to continue to punch in using their fob, they must use their OLD FOB. Eventually moving forward, hourly staff will either have to punch in from a local computer, or the Skyward app once time clocks break. The district does not intend to replace them. If you do not need or want to use your OLD FOB then it may be thrown away completely.
Reminders about Procedures from Julie & Allyce
- Please make sure to know where your students should be going after school (Parent pick-up, bus or daycare/after school event). It is your responsibility to remind them where to go, especially some need extra reminders. Lately we have been having a handful of students most afternoons in the wrong location which means calling buses back, parents waiting for their child at PPU, or missing students. This is important.
- Teachers are only to hand out yellow notes to students and should also be giving a verbal reminder where to go at the end of the day.
- Remind students about wearing proper clothing to school and out to recess now that there is snow. (boots, jackets, hats, gloves, scarfs, snowpants)
- Before leaving the classroom for lunch and/or recess, remind students who are taking hot lunch to check their hands for their lunch card and the correct color chip before leaving the classroom. This helps the lunch lines move quickly.
Author Visit--Make plans
Katherine Applegate & Gennifer Choldenko virtual visit on Tuesday, January 23rd at 1:30 PM. Katherine and Gennifer will present their new book, DOGTOWN, which they wrote together. Dogtown stars a dog named Chance and a group of stray dogs, misbehaving dogs, and discarded robot dogs whose owners have outgrown them. They all live together in a shelter. There will be a link for a virtual presentation for each classroom. Information document
Dear Abby...
What are some things I can try to prevent running out of time during Number Corner lessons?
Something to consider might be assigning updating the Calendar Grid and Calendar Collector as a morning job for students. On days where these are not highlighted in the Number Corner lesson and are just listed as an “update”, this could save some time in order to get to the main focus of that day’s lesson!

FIRE DRILLS
Fire Drills are one safety measure we do to keep all students and staff safe. The Raptor system was added to increase communication between more people than just the ones who are face to face. With most new systems, it takes practice to implement accurately and quickly. It also takes time to work out different scenarios that could happen and to problem solve for improvement. During this last Fire Drill we had more opportunities to problem solve. Please read these important points below.
- When checking in yourself in the Raptor system, do the ACCOUNT FOR first, then do your LOCATION.
- Next check your students in the same way. ACCOUNT FOR first, then do their LOCATION.
- An all school roster will be placed in the Emergency Bags in all the common areas and in the specialists' classes.
- Click this link to walk you through the Accountability process in Raptor for yourself and your students.
Changes in Procedures
End of day Procedures
- Students going to Champions after school and another after school program such as Girl Scouts, DI, Character Kids, etc...., must check in at Champions FIRST before going to the other program.
- Make sure end of the day procedures for students and duties are highlighted and bolded in your lesson plans for guest teachers.
- Students SHOULD NOT be handing out yellow notes at the end of the day. This is a teacher's responsibility. Review with the student where he/she is to go before dismissal.
Fire Drill Procedure
- Walk your students out of the building safely to your playground location.
- Use electronic device (phone/computer) to account for yourself and complete location.
- Then use electronic device (phone/computer) to account for your students and their location.
- If you don't have an electronic device to account for yourself, go to someone who does to check you in.
(RE-POST) Results of Parent/Caregiver Satisfaction Survey
We will be discussing the results in more detail as well as creating an action plan with PTO on January, 10th, the Staff Meeting on January 17th and the Support Staff meeting on January, 19th.
