Jimmie Journal
News You Need to Know about JHS!--February 2021
Welcome to February
Welcome to February and while it's the shortest month of the year, this February is packed. Of course this is Black History Month, the first week is National School Counseling Week, and the 2nd is Groundhog Day. I am hoping Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow--I am ready for an early spring. Additionally, we have ISTEP testing this month for all Juniors and Seniors who still need to meet a graduation requirement. These tests are important, and we wish everyone taking them the best of luck. Not to mention winter sports are winding down with wrestling and girls basketball in tournament play, and spring sports are really ramping up. So you can see, it's a busy month!
It is also worth mentioning that time will continue to move forward, that is one thing I can guarantee, so students please stay focused on your classes and grades. Parents, please help us keep your children on the right track. As we move into spring and the weather starts to clear, and our tolerance for all things Covid starts to wane, we need to stay focused and vigilant on the tasks at hand. I am just as happy as everyone else to see Covid rates falling in Elkhart County, but we must continue to do our part to keep that trend going. We are still asking students and staff to mask up in the building, wash hands, and maintain social distancing when we can. Let's hope (fingers crossed) that we can increase our audiences for future shows and events.
Until then, I appreciate our students, staff, and community. This continues to be a great place to work and learn. That is a testament to the people here. Let us know how we can help if anything should arise. Enjoy your February!
We are Jimtown!

ISTEP Testing is this Month
The final ISTEP testing window opens this month. ALL juniors will test. Seniors who have not passed one or both portions of the ISTEP and who have not completed a graduation pathway WILL test as well. The ISTEP test remains an important piece to graduation, so it is important that students who need to test do so.
All testing MUST be completed in person. Virtual learners will need to organize transportation to and from testing sessions. *If a student is currently in quarantine, they are NOT to show up to a testing session. (Other arrangements will be made for these students at a later time).
As a reminder, the ISTEP+ testing days are as follows (Times may vary and are subject to change):
Tuesday, February 2nd- Math Part 1 (7:55 - 9:45 AM)
RESCHEDULED to Wednesday, February 10th- Math Part 2 (7:55 - 10:50 AM)
Tuesday, February 9th- ELA Part 1 (7:55 - 10:30 AM)
