Facts about the ancient Daimyo people

  • - OVERTIME, DAIMYO'S BECAME MORE POWERFUL THAN SHOGUNS.

    - THEIR JOB IS TO KEEP JUSTICE AND PEACE IN THE TOWN AND TO SERVE THE SHOGUNS.

    - DAIMYO'S WERE WARLORDS.

    - DAIMYO'S WOULD FIGHT MORE BATTLES THAN SHOGUN

    - THEY WOULD LEAD ARMIES INTO BATTLES.

    - MOST OF THE TIME THEY WOULD DIE BEFORE THEY MADE IT TO BECOME A SHOGUN.

    - DAIMYO'S WERE THE LOCAL LORDS IN JAPAN IN THE ERA OF THE SAMURAI.

    -THEY WERE SUPPORTED BY LARGE NUMBERS OF SAMURAIS.

    - THEY HAD COMPLETE MILITARY AND ECONOMIC POWER.

    - THEY EXPECTED REWARDS FOR OBEDIENCE & LOYALTY WITH LAND, MONEY, AND/OR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE------- THE SAMURAIS WANTED THE SAME FROM THE DAIMYO'S THEY SERVED.

    - INCREASING POWER OF THE DAIMYOS WEAKENED THE POSITIONS OF THE SHOGUN.

    - THEY BEGAN TREATING LAND LIKE INDEPENDENT KINGDOMS.

    - DAIMYO'S WARRED WITH EACH OTHER TO OWN LAND AND HAVE POWER.

    - SAMURAIS FOUGHT FOR THEIR DAIMYO LORDS.

    THE DAIMYO WERE LORDS BETWEEN 900 AND 1600 C.E.

    - AFTER PUBLIC LAND HOLDING, DAIMYOS ROSE TO POWER.

    - THEY CONTROLLED LANDS SURROUNDING THEIR CASTLES.

    - THEY CONTROLLED ARMIES LIVING IN THE LANDS AND DID MANY OTHER THINGS AS WELL.
