Osceola Science Carter School Instructional Continuity Plan
Dear OSCS Families,
At this time Osceola Science Charter School is closely following district updates and are ready to implement distance learning. State testing, slated to begin on April 1, will be delayed by two weeks. This will provide students with additional time to reinforce learned skills and continue to practice at home.
At OSCS, student learning is our utmost priority. To maintain instructional continuity and avoid regression during the extended time off, OSCS will be implementing the following virtual learning plan:
- All K-6 students will be assigned instructional material for Reading, Mathematics, and Science via Connect and online instructional tools starting on March 23rd. All digital content will be readily available to our families as early as Sunday, March 22nd through the students’ Connect account.
- To access digital content, simply login to your child’s Connect and you will be able to download the instructional packets linked to each subject area. Packets may be downloaded and printed, or, they can be completed in a separate notebook/journal.
- All students will be required to complete the content assigned and must bring completed work upon their return to school. A grade will be awarded for completion.
- Teachers will work remotely to assign daily digital lessons in Reading, Mathematics, and Science using following online programs:
- Study Island
- I-Ready
- Flocabulary
- Spelling City
- Khan academy (if currently using)
- Please make sure to access these programs daily to complete the assigned lessons. Teachers will be accessible via email and/or Class DOJO to answer any questions regarding the content or to support with login information.
- Teachers will actively monitor the completion rate of online lessons and will contact the families of students falling behind on their lessons.
- All online lessons will be taken as a grade. Please make sure your child is actively completing all daily lessons.
- All students are highly encouraged to read daily (30mins) and take AR tests.
Please remember that this situation is evolving day by day, hour by hour, and minute by minute. The most important priority for your School Board Members and Superintendent is for all of us to stay well, and we will continue to keep your well-being front of mind as we make critical decisions.
Thank you for your patience and dedication throughout this situation. Continue to practice the healthy habits we've shared, and watch for updates as this progresses.
Sincerely,
OSCS Administration
